Issue 2.0: Amche Parking Magazine
Our annual issue of curated news, art and literature for the urbanist in you is now in print!
This week we celebrate the launch (and by launch I mean the completion of the arduous process of designing, printing, folding, cutting, sorting, packing, labelling and shipping) of the Amche Parking Magazine, the second in our series of annual publications on parking in cities across the world.
76 pages long, took 5 months to put together and features works of 13 different creative people and me, each of whom relate to the subject of parking in their own unique ways. I am also glad for our three sponsors, namely the Bombay Imagined Book, Karris K9 Kamp and Kalpavriksha Academy for their support in both cash and kind, without which this endeavour would have been far from possible. I was lucky to have been able to meet with experts from a variety of fields ranging from automotive culture, history and architecture to comunidade land, policy and journalism, who humorously entertained my many questions and need to further elaborate and/or to dig deeper into subject material. Finally, I’m also grateful to Himon Rai Chowdhury for bringing many of the stories alive with stunning photography that does justice to the beauty of life in Goa.
Amongst other things, this magazine features a story on the relationship of money and mobility in Goa titled ‘Comunidade Land to Car Parks’, a photo series featuring parking attendants from around panjim titled “Portraits of Parking Attendants” a speculative discussion titled, “Will there be parking lots in the metaverse” and a film review of the parking lot movie called “Priests of the Parking Lot”.
