Namma Parking Festival of Propositions @ Blr Design Week
A call for proposals on ways to reclaim parking bays in Bangalore, of which 2 have been chose, funded and are on their way to being realised!
The Namma Parking Festival of Propositions, in collaboration with Blr Design Week, was a month long engagement with creative practitioners and other residents of Bangalore to reimagine what parking bays, on 3 select streets of the city’s central business district, could possibly turn into.
Through the month of November, we received a variety of proposals of which, 9 were chosen by us to be publicly presented by their respective teams at MG Road Metro Station on the 3rd of December 2022. Of the 9 who would present their ideas, the jury panel consisting of Pooja Patel, Program Lead & Research Associate at B.MOBILE and B.PAC and myself, Radha RH, editor of the (our) Parking Magazine, 2 would be chosen to enter into the execution phase with access to funding each of Rs. 35000.
On the 3rd of December each of the 9 teams made their presentations, punctuated by translations of the same, by Nanditha Gogate, an intern at the (our) Parking Magazine who did a wonderful job of it! There were snacks and lively audience interactions that made the event rather engaging and fruitful. We are grateful to all those who graced the event with their presence, taking out their time on a Saturday morning to spend be part of the space we created on MG Road Metro Station.
After much thought, Pooja and I have finally been able to decide the 2 teams we would like to work with to realise their ideas and provide funding to. These teams are leaded by Muralikrishna of BMS College and Poornima of Aravani Art Project, whom we heartily congratulate for their wonderful ideas. We have also chosen 2 ideas who we felt deserve honorary mentions, which were Hey Bangalore! by Street Tej and Dream Up by Harini Ramisetty. We look forward to a fruitful collaboration with all these mentioned teams in this new year of 2023!
